Maisy, question about the green goo in my dogs eyes. I have been putting the terramycin in since Friday, he still has the goo, Does it normally take this long to respond. Normally when people have a bacterial infection you see reults almost immediately. Maybe this isnt the right med, I will take him to the vet by Wed if there is no change. But is this typical that it takes a long time for an eye infection to clear. Bummer, now my other dog has it as of Yesterday. This is getting frustrating. Honeybear IP: Logged |

Honeybear, I haven't ever known it to be quick, I always thought it was cause they are able to blink and tear a bunch of it out, but it has always cleared the goop up. I can't see what you see...if you are thinking you need to take them in, do it. I know with my mare it can take a good week or more before it starts to clear up. Do they have any other symptoms? Is there redness in they eye?, or just the goop? Are they outside dogs, where the bugs may be bothering them? Has the owner of the other dog taken his into the vet? IP: Logged |

Maisey, I dont know if the other dog has been taken to the vet. My husband did call him on Friday because he was going to his parents house that had a dog, His friend was non-chalant. YOu how many people take offense. my husband basicly said his dig passed his cold od pink eye on to ours. I notice that my labs eye is red on the on the outside of the cornea. They are indoor dogs. I was thinking maybe I am not getting enough of the medicine in the eye. I will take them in by the end of the week if it has not cleared up. I wanted to see if this is soemthing that just time to heal. Thanks Honeybear IP: Logged |

Are you making sure that you wash your hands after touching his face. when you put it in do you pull the eylid down so you can get a good strip of it in the eye. If I remember correctly, my dog took longer than a few days for his eyes to get better. The vet would tell you to probably put it in for at least 10 days. Are you putting it in twice a day too. If not start. start your other dog on it too, but make sure that actual product does not touch either dog. wash hands after. puttin510. I thought about cleaning tip of the eye medicne tube after I already put it in my other dogs eye (how studid of me. I was good about washing my hands and throwing the tissues away. Now I wash it off with alcohol. It has been since Friday and he still woke up this morning with goop coming out. I have been putting it ine 2-3 times a day. So it looks like a trip to the vet may be in order. What nasty stuff! Honeybear IP: Logged |

Hang in there Honeybear, it does take some time for it to do it's job, but you are right, if it doesn't look like it is making a difference at all after about 5 or 6 days, I would take them in, or at leaste one of them. It is nasty stuff, imagine the same eye crud on a 1200 lb horse! Now imagine trying to get the meds in the eye of that same horse who can lift his/her head higher than you can reach. I always have to have help from someone, and it is still a comical event. Amazing the things we learn to do all for the love of a pet. IP: Logged |
