Can anyone please give me or info or a reference on Addisons Desease. We have bred the GSD for 25 years and not come across this problem. Now another breeder friend calls to ask about this desease and we cannot help him. He has had his dog the vet but is wanting help to decide which way to go. His dog appears to be well and normal after initially bringing up above average amounts of water she drank earlier. After 4 days off her food she appears to be back to normal.
Can anyone advise, please.
Good luck & good breeding.

Addisons disease can be carefully monitored with medicines daily. It is that the potasium levels can not stay at the level they should be at, but with meds on a daily basis the dog can live a normal life. I know somewhat about it because my step mother has it. You need to make sure the dogs is put on the correct doseage. I am sure Maisey abovegave some great sites. I don't have time right now to check them all out. Good luck.
