I think you should read the Whole Dog Journal and find out all that you can about what is in foods made for dogs. Research well and then choose. I do not feed the same food all the time, it used to be thought that you should not trade food, that is no longer the opinion of many. To help prevent food allergies and to give my dogs variety, I switch their food every couple months, so I have chosen several foods that I like and will feed. This does not work for all dogs of course, and you should always change gradually. I put a bunch of links below that should help you get started in researching dog foods, hope it is helpful.

Below is my favorite site because it has an "ingredient wizard", you can learn all about each ingredient, even ones they do not use in thier foods. http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=home-tab

Precise is what I am feeding my dogs currently. http://www.precisepet.com/

i don't feed kibble but for those looking for a high quality brand food, I too tend to recommend the whole dog journal's top ten.
some others that may or may not be part of the top ten ~~~ Wellness, Solid Gold, California Natural, Innova, Canidae, Holistic Blends.

Sunnymoon...a side note here..when I started looking at new foods, I brought home a bunch of samples of the ones I was considering, I put each in a bowl with the package under it and then brought my dog in and watched to see which one he preferred. I did this with all three dogs separately and I am glad I did because I was leaning strongly in the direction of Innova but not one of the three liked it. Palatability is important, they gotta eat it, they should like it. Most dealers of these quality foods have sample bags they give out for free. Consider doing a taste test, we had fun doing it too!
