I just bought a border collie/chow chow mix. She's so sweet and adorable and loves everyone. However, when I brought her home yesterday, my Shih tzu simply walked up to her, and the puppy growled and attempted to bite my dog. I really don't understand why...the first night I had her, she slept with me at my boyfriend's house, where she was surrounded by 2 labs and a Golden retriever, and she loved them. Also, she's sweet to my 3 cats, and my pet duck. Does anyone know why she is only snapping at my dog and what I can do to stop it?

Well your pup might not be used to seeing a dog like your Shih tzu and hasn't quite figured out your Shihtzu is another dog! She probably felt afraid and maybe your shih tzu is confident and forward or giving off mixed signals that put your new pup in defense mode. Start with outdoor supervised introductions, let your pup understand that this dog is ok. Just give it some time, all will be well.
