I am at a lose of what to do about my 6 month old puppy. Every night she pees in my bedroom and on the sofa. I have tried everything I can think of to stop her. She does not cry at night when she wants out to go to the bathroom like my other dog does. What can I do to stop her from peeing every night?

Hi Mouseygrl-Have you tried crating her at night? Do you control how much water she drinks before or during the night? Sometimes you may have to wake her up and take her out even if yo don't hear her cry. If you happen to wake, go and try taking her out. If all else fails she could have a bladder infection or something. The vet would be able to help determine that. Good luck!!!

At 6 months a pup still doesn't have the bladder control that an adult dog has. Have her vet check her over first for a UTI or bladder infection, and limit her water intake during the evening after dinner. Does she go out for a pee before you go to bed? You might have to set an alarm and take her out during the night. Some dogs have less bladder control than others and sometimes they just grow out of it. Shes still young.

As JP mentioned, have her checked out by the vet first, since it could be a physical problem. If there is no reason for her to be going in the house at night, you need to figure out some way to stop her from repeating the behavior, either by crating her; or if you let her sleep with you, putting a leash on her and looping it around your wrist/ankle. Our dachshund used to sneak out of my bed to pee on my floor sometimes (we know there's nothing wrong with her, she's had several tests done just in the past year to make sure; and she's not a heavy water drinker, so she can hold it for that long), so for a while she completely lost the "priveledge" and spent more than a few nights sleeping in her crate. When I started letting her back in, I took a 4 ft lead, hooked it to her collar, and looped the handle around my ankle (she sleeps down at the foot of the bed, for dogs that sleep towards the top of the bed, a wrist/arm is better). A couple times she tried to get down in the middle of the night, and the jolt of her jumping down would wake me up, I'd take her outside, if she went, she got to come back to bed, if not, into the crate she went. She learned pretty quickly that it was easier to not even try to sneak out. You don't want to do something like that on a night when you need the sleep, though, and definitely not if you're a really heavy sleeper or if you toss and turn. I still keep a leash on her when she sleeps in there with me, but it just lays on the bed, not attached to anything.

Make sure you also clean the spots well, since any lingering smell may entice her to go there again.
