I just gave my one-year-old female lab a "hot-spot" type flea&tick medicene I got from the co-op. I've noticed she's been losing her hair - alot!!! You can just pet her and hair falls out and the roots...also, her lab-like hair is turning fuzzy...and brown? I don't know for sure about the color change, she isn't a full blooded lab, I just assumed she's part. Anyways, she's also recently been fixed with laser surgery, don't know if that has anything to do with it. All help will be appreciated! Thanks.

Dogs shed certain times of the year more than others. Stress can also be a factor. A friends dog had bare patches where the fur was coming out, after a vet visit they found out it was a type of seasonal alopecia. If the hair loss seems beyond normal and the fur texture is changing make a trip to the vet just to be sure. Diet plays a role and essential fatty acids might help.
