Thought I would share this story with all of you. We have a shelter in a town closeby to us that opened in the early 90's.
What was special about in more than 1 way is no dog was put to sleep, it was their home till a home was found..They only charged a person a charge of 10.00. My son now 23 used to go there and donate his time to help take care these dogs. At times there might of been up to 200 dogs or so. This shelter ran on bare minimum dollars. As each dog came in a local vet would donate his services for the spay and neutor of each animal. People donate food to this shelter also and all other things. Unique part of this shelter was these dogs were not kenneled ever. It was about a 3 acre area..with alot of dog houses...All the dogs mingled day in and day out. There was never a fight or for that matter any scrapping between the dogs. It was like these dogs knew for some reason their lives were being saved or something. There was everything from a great dane right down to chihuahuas to pit bulls. When my son would show up he said he was greeted by a crowd..I would always ask him none of them ever get into it..he said no that the most any one of them would do is if one or two were walking with him, a little growl. My son went there for about 2 years bout 3 times a week..till my son had a heart attack when he was 21. He is by the way the one that has been attacked by dogs in the past. But he had always loved dogs, not matter what..just thought you guys would find this shelter interesting due to these dogs all run together..

Wow that sounds like the perfect life. At least until they find a home. Your son sounds like a wonderful guy.
