My mom's Yorkshire Terrier puppy, does not want to eat. She only wants to eat "can food" and when she hasn't eaten in a while she MAY eat 1-3 piece of hard food, if he make it look fun my bouncing them around or hold them in our hands. Anyone ever had a dog do this? I don't know why she ony eats can food, maybe she is just stuborn! any help is appreciated! =)

Is the dog older it could be problems with his teeth. Thats what happened with my oldest dog now she eats almost all canned food you can also try mixing the caneed food with the dry food we did that for a while with my dog. Just a thought

Hi mal yes I have seen this, what I used to do is put a little of 4 % small curd cottege cheese mixed with it..this is ok since he is still a pup..tell her to take a handful of the dry in her hand and run it under faucet for a second (warm water) then mix it with about a teapson of the cottage cheese...tell her to grad use less...
Keep us informed..good luck

RottyMommy, she is 12-14 weeks old I believe. We took her to the vet for a check-up and she is healthy, except she had something in her ear...And my mom is giving her ear wash for that! =) Anyways...Sometimes, not all, she will eat her food if she thinks the cat is going to lol...She is so funny. Thanks y'all and Doc, I'll tell my mom about that cottage cheese idea!!! =) I'll keep everyone informed!

Cute little dogs can get spoiled very easily. Take a stand and don't back down to the pup. They wrap you around their little paws until you are putty. Rotty and Doc gave great advise. Like they said little by little start reducing all the wet stuff that you put in with her dry food. It will make your life much easier. Try not to give table scraps, tiny dogs can gain weight very fast. I have lived this. The dry is much better for their teeth and gums. Good lick (luck)

My toy poodle is this way...He recently starved himself for 3 days and then I gave in...I have since put him on canned Solid Gold. I have tried everything and it just does not work. He is almost 7 yrs old but I just got him last October and did'nt eat well in his previous home either and was underweight because of it. I have tried mixing his dry food with cottage cheese (because he loves cottage cheese) and he woudnt touch it, I tried soaking it in warm water to no avail, mixing it with canned food ( he was eating Solid Gold dry mixed with Solid Gold canned well for about 2 months). He ate semi-moist food (kibbles n bits) for most of his life which is why I think he will just not except the dry food...but I must say his teeth are nice, very white and healthy looking. I add Wysong Dentatreat to his SG and give him CET chews so hopefully that will keep his teeth looking nice.
