I am looking for a small white malte-poo for my parents who are seniors. I live in Nova Scotia Canada. Anyone know of any breeders nearby?

responsible breeders dont breed mixes. Try rescue or shelters where dogs need homes petfinder.com is a good place to start and search by area

Maggie, don't listen to JP! RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS DO BREED MIXES. I know some people who got a Malte-poo, and they love her!

I have to agree with JP on this.I am not saying that they are bad dogs or anything, but a TRUE RESPONSIBLE BREEDER will never mix breeds..

My suggestion would be to check out the local shelters first. Since you will be giving the puppy or dog to elderly people I would suggest getting a slightly older dog so that way the house training and other training would most likley be done, then they don't have to worry about those things and just enjoy the companionship of the dog.

Since the breed you are talking of is a mixed breed, it will be hard to find a responsible person who chooses to breed those mixes.

Maltese, you are really very irritating. You continue to show how ignorant you are. Can you please keep your teenage stupidness to yourself. Here's a quick lesson for ya. Breeders breed to produce sound dogs. Sound temperment, no illness, no behavioral crap and most of all to perfect the breed. Back yard breeders breed to make money. They breed to create new breeds. They breed to MAKE MONEY, thus not breeding to create a sound dog, so you never know what your getting...only time will tell.

Nobody is saying the breed itself is bad, just the people who choose to breed mixes need to wake up and see how many of their creations have been dumped off at the pound because nobody wants them, or because they bred without making sure there were homes waiting for them. Get a grip girl and learn how to read!!!!!

lol have you seen or even know what a maltepoo is? your really putting your foot in your mouth. maltepoos are a recognized dog and are very sweet and loving. you will not find one in a pound. and if you look they are also very expensive(not just your average mut).

No Malteseof2003 responsible breeders do NOT purposely breed mixed breeds - ignorant breeders do. It is very irresponsible breed mutts. These "breeders" do it for money & popularity with no regard to health. I have not met one "breeder" who breeds mixes that is responsibly spay/neutering the offspring, health testing both parents and certifying their health with appropriate registries. Where is the breed club? Breed standard? Show me this breeder and their dedication and I'll then I'll put my foot in mouth....well I wont but oh well.

AND Jemx
LOL no foot in mouth here. A multipoo is a mutt - mix - heinz 57 - all american - whatever you want to call it -- YEP your average mutt. Maltese X Poodle

With anything other than a shady registry they are not official. I follow the AKC CKC (Canadian) UKC and NOPE no multipoops. Expensive? So what? Purebreds are expensive TOO. Is that any guarantee of Quality? NOT a chance!!! Mixes are expensive because irresponsible/ignorant/BYB breeders are cashing in on the buck.

I have to agree with Jemmx! Malte-poos' are not just available anywhere! Even though they aren't the PUREBRED ACK or whatever, doesn't mean they are just mutts! And I REALLY REALLY doubt you will find on in a shelter. 1. because they are really good dogs. 2. they are expensive. Anyways, I have nothing aginst mutts! I love them! I have one, my sister has a doggy who was dropped off, and also has her puppy, and not to mention our lab/mix! I love all dogs, but Malte-poos are not going to be found in a shelter, unless maybe you look in all of U.s.a... And as far as SHMOOPIE saying im a stupid teenager, well let me tell you something, I'm probably alot smarter than you. And you don't need to go bashing ppl, young, or old, on a message board. And, even worse, scaring off ppl! BTW, whats wrong with paying money for a so call "mutt" anyways? its their money!

its not the dog itself, I love mutts mixes etc I am all for people RESCUING these dogs and SAVING their lives.....its the unscrupulous breeders breeding these and other mixes for the wrong reasons. They ruin the breeds and will ruin these mixes in due time too. A mix as listed above is NO different than any other mixed breed.

If there weren't MILLIONS of unwanted mixes of all kinds put to DEATH every year because of lack of homes and space in shelters, then maybe I could understand breeding them. But this is not the case now. Yes, these dogs are in our shelters just look at petfinder.com and you find them there. I am a rescue worker and see these types becoming more frequent.

Give it time, they'll be well known to shelters for certain.

One thing I question is, if breeders are really want to establish this breed and are "okaying" breeding mixes, then how as a breeder do you tell the people who buy your pups that it is not "okay" for them to breed their mixes? Especially if their dog doesn't meet the qualifications -health, conformationally (meaning structure and size), and the right temperament for the breed you are trying to establish???????? Or do you say oh sure breed it to whatever you want - even if they have no goal in mind? I see a future disaster coming in the dog fancy and easily see how if we think theres a canine overpopulation now, well just wait.
