My husband and I would like to purchase a male maltipoo. We live in Texas and realize the little thing might have to be flown. That is really not what I want to do, however I read this morning about sending the breeder slept in tee shirts and our crate. Puppy mill breeders need not reply. Hopefully God will guide only a loving breeder to reply to me. Thank you. IP: Logged |

Have you considered talking to rescue? Either maltese rescue or poodle rescue, I am sure they get mixes in all the time. Its going to be very difficult to find a serious breeder who mixes two breeds. Possible, but difficult. Have you considered maybe one or the other? A maltese or a poodle? Instead of a mix? If you want a mix of the two...then definately look into rescue...there are lots of dogs in need. IP: Logged |

Check petfinder.com. If you are in the Dallas area there is a shelter in Richardson that recently seized (??) many maltepoos. There are several breeders of maltepoos in Texas - I doubt you'd need to have him shipped. Good luck. IP: Logged |

I work full time and most rescue agencies in Houston are closed on the weekend. I will NOT buy from a pet shop. I did try one recue shelter about 40 miles away and was turned down because I worked and the puppy I wanted was only 2 months old. I cerainly wouldn't have let my other dogs near it when I wasn't home. They were only 4 months old at the time. I have a maltipoo and a schnauzer. I must make certain I get a dog which has a disposition like theirs. Also, they do not shed which is a must because of my husband's allergies. IP: Logged |

Okay, shedding has little to nothing to do with allergies. Usually it is saliva that causes the problem...and shed hair, if its the hair, can cause allergic reactions just as attached...Most people are allergic to the dander or the saliva...and yes they can be allergic to one breed and not the other. There for, you might get a suprise, which is possible, and be allergic to your next little mix...because every dog and breed's chemistry is different... Good luck though!!! IP: Logged |

I didn't know that--about saliva. With all of the pollen here, my husband doesn't stand a chance. A woman about 3 hours from me was recommended by someone who had purchased a sweet little puppy from her. She lives in a small town where my dad was born, raised and buried. I couldn't believe it. I sent a deposit today, but "Toby" was just born 3/23/03, so I have to wait until June. It is going to be a long 2 1/2 months. This woman started the Yahoo Maltese Group. I just hope and pray she takes good care of my little guy. IP: Logged |
