Due to work I must leave my 10 month old puppy alone 10-11 hours a day. She chews up what she can find to chew on even though I provide lots of chewables, lights, music, water...What can I do to make her time alone more enjoyable and less destructive?
Thank you for your advice.

What??? 10-11 hours? What do you expect. This is NOT the right time for you to own a dog. What you should do is find her a nice home where she won't be left BORED, UNSTIMULATED, and ALONE. <----- That is exactly why she chews!!!!! Time to rethink if treating a puppy this way is humane and worth the damage she could do to herself. You're lucky she is still alive and hasn't chewed through an electrical cord or eaten a poisonus plant.

There are plenty of alternatives; come home at lunch, HIRE a dogsitter or dog walker, DOGGIE DAYCARE........ this puppy needs some attention EXERCISE and stimulation!!

WOW...That is a really long time to leave your pup unattended.I would recommend that you get someone to come by to check on her ,play, and take her out to go potty. You might also want to consider crate trainning. This will keep her from getting hurt and keep your house in one peice.

WHAT 10-11 hours a day, every day?

Please, get the puppy into doggy day care. It is not right that you do this to your dog. What will happen is as she grows she will develope behavioral problems...as she already has...but it gets much worse. Either re home her or place her in doggy day care while you are away for that long.

How do expect to potty train? How do you expect to obedience train or socialize the dog when you leave it isolated for that long.

Think of what the dog requires to remain sane, get the dog a proper home and get a cat!

I agree with everyone,,this is way to long for a dog to be left alone, and this is a puppy!
I have the same problem every summer,, I have a summer business. My dogs go to Doggy Daycare and Love it.They get to play with other dogs all day,,when I pick them up they are so tired.
A tired dog is a GOOD dog!!
A bored dog is destructive!!

I have to say that 10-11 hrs is way to much time alone. Especially for a young dog or puppy. BTW what kind of dog is it? Certain dogs need more exercise than other, and you need to watch him/her. If not serious health problems can occur. =) I would suggest doggy daycares, but I'm not to fond of them cause, one dog could have a disease and it spread, but a doggy walker or sitter is a great idea!
