Hi there I am a local personal dog trainer that comes to the home to help with training needs. If you need some assistance let me know.

Hi Karli, will you give assistance here online or do you have to come over? :-) You are too far away for a home visit :-)

Hi Karli -

I am from Arizona and wish I was there now so you could help me in person. We live overseas and have moved our Akita here as well. He has never been around other dogs much and can be very aggressive toward them - especially larger breeds. There are LOTS of dogs being walked where I live - many without leashes and I was having trouble controlling him as he weighs about 120lbs and is very strong. A trainer here suggested the Gentle Leader. Of course he HATES it and after 4 weeks still fights it every chance he gets. It is much easier to handle him but I am worried that we are "breaking" his spirit. He is very stubborn and strong willed and only listens to obedience commands sometimes. He is very spoiled and has always had his own yard up until now. It is necessary to walk him at least twice a day and these walks are becoming very frustrating for both of us. Any suggestions you have would be very helpful.
