I have a wonderful 10 month old maltipoo, Tina. She must have all of the wonderful qualties of both dogs. I know this isn't helping you, but I get a chance to brag about Tina. I have read a lot about Maltese. They are wonderful with everyone (very social,) do not shed, need a lot of grooming, are very intelligent, think they are little watch dogs for their human parents. Tina has poodle hair, curly and thick, not silkey like a maltese, except her beautiful tail. I keep her in a puppy cut with her ears in a straight bob. She hates for the groomer to put ribbons with those pulling rubber bands in her hairdo. So I take them out as soon as I take pictures. She is very independent when she knows my husband and I are home on the weekends and at night after work. She sleeps at the end of our bed on her little chenille pillow. My miniature white Schnauzer curls up in my curl at night. She likes to always be in the same room as either my husband or myself unless she goes out her door to run and play with Buddy. She thinks Buddy is silly for barking so much. Tina will come up to me and lick my foot or whine a little with her tail wagging that is time for kisses, a back scratch and hugging. If I am too caught up in what I am doing, she lets out a little bark "Don't you hear me, Mommy?" She is a little person, basically. Her tail is alway wagging. Buddy is way to serious. It takes a lot for him to wag his tail. I will brag about him when someone asks about a purebred minature schnauzer. [This message has been edited by janrfreeman (edited 04-06-2003).] IP: Logged |

Your doggy is soooooooooooooo adorable!!! It reminds me of my aunt's Toy poodle! I guess thats cause it is half poodle though lol...And thanks, I'm not done with my website yet, cause I have to wait to get pictures of my dogs and my aunts dogs to put on there. Would you mind If I put your dog pict and a short story (of your choice) on my website? IP: Logged |

I dont' have a full blooded maltese either . Snuggles mom was pure bred pekingnese and his dad was pure bred Maltese. Both were winners in dog shows and were very tiny for there bree d. His dad weighs 4 pds. and his mom weighs 4 1/2 so we expect him to be very small. He looks maltese except his legs are real short and his hair is cream in stead of white. Other then that if you didn't know you couldn't tell he had any peke in him. I did alot of research before I got him on maltese too so this is what i know. Most of them are very small like under 7 pds. They require brushing every day. Its common for them to have tear staining. They are very smart and loving dogs. They will bark and let you know when someone is there but they are yappy dogs like poms or poodles. REmember I said good watchdogs not good guarddogs. When someone comes in they will bark and then lick them to death. They love everyone ! Well hope that helps. Just a word of advice if you get one paper train and outside train. They can't get cold and damp so they need an alternative in bad weather. I am using puppy pads on bad days. IP: Logged |
