I thought I would pass this on to those of you who would like to know how to get rid of the rust stained fur around dog's eyes, mouths, paws and other places. I have told many friends about this and it works all the time. All you have to do is give the dog FILTERED WATER. Whether it be filtered from a Brita or the like, or bottled water. Filtered water generally has no iron, or minerals. Therefore the dog's tears and saliva has none either. I almost guarentee you that within 4 to 6 weeks the rusty look will stop. You will have to groom the dog to take off the rusty look that's there, but you will notice a difference within that time period.
I stumbled upon this by accident, after trying all kinds of different remedies from the vet. My 2 yr old white cockapoo looked like she was very old because of this. That was about the time I started drinking filtered water myself, and decided if I get filtered water...why shouldn't the dog. 6 weeks later...no rusty look. It takes that long for the water to take effect on the body fluids. Some of you may have known this already, but the ones who didn't....give it a go...nothing to lose.
I would be interested to know what results you all get.

i'm not trying to shoot down your idea but this doesn't work for me.. i have provided nothing but brita water to my one year old pup since i got her at eight weeks old.. she has this rust color around her mouth, around her eyes, around her anus/female anatomy, and paws.. did you also switch foods when you switched to water? i'm planning to switch foods as soon as i can locate a store that sells the food i want.. i am hoping this will help with her coat..

Guess it doesn't work for everyone eh? Bellasmommy...I didn't switch food at all. Pauline.....My dog got filtered water for 14 of her 16 years, she was healthy the whole time.
It might just probably depend on if you have city water or well water....
