I have a 13 yr. old chow. He has joint problems very bad. He is taking rimadyl. Can i give him a joint supplement with the Rimadyl. Or if anyone out there knows something that will work better i sure would like to hear from you. Thanks IP: Logged |

You should be aware of the possible side effects of Rimadyl, if your vet hasn't already told you, it would be a good idea to talk to him/her again and re-evaluate the choice to see if it's what's best suited to your dog. You should be able to give him a joint supplement like glucosamine/chondroitin or MSM, but might want to check with your vet to make sure and decide on an amount. IP: Logged |

I am no expert, but I lost my gorgeous Old English Sheepdog after 2 weeks on Rimadyl. He developed fluid in his lungs, became so as to not be able to get up, became incontinent, and prior, I had had him on another supplement and he had been doing just great; I had tried a new vet in town, we tried the new drug then, Rimadyl. I still say, to this day, after reading on other dogs and the downward effects, that that drug harmed my dog. I would use glucosamine powder instead. I cannot forgive myself for having used that drug. It was too fast a change, drastic change. The vet thought so too. Read all you can. God bless. IP: Logged |
