does anybody have any experience with mange? i posted previously about a puppy i rescued.. i took her to my vet on monday and she was positive for both mange and hookworm.. he gave her an injection of ivermectin and she needs a second dose two weeks from mon.(3/3).. my vet told me that it would be safe to bring my puppy, Bella, (who i've kept out of the apartment all week) back a week after the first treatment.. i'm doing everything i can think of to prevent this mange from getting everywhere; i have all wood floors and tile in the kitchen, i have been wet swiffering (mopping) the entire place every night.. i'm also not letting the puppy on the couches.. is this enough?? i'm concerned, i don't want Bella to get the mange.. does anybody know anything about treating and preventing mange?? p.s. Bella is completely vaccinated and on Heartgard and Frontline..

Mange is transferred directly from dog to dog I believe. It's serious if you ignor it, but since you are aware it is there, medication will quickly solve that problem!

The best thing to treat mange is to dip the puppy in used motoer oil.just dip it from the neck down and then rub some on its head.I would let it soak in for a few hours and then give it a bath.Or you can buy medicated shampoos just for mange. You should be able to get some from your vet.
