What do i do...?

I supposed to have a little dog by now (chihuahua) i havent get it yet because they told me shes been around another dog infected with parvo.. so she might be infected also

I already got her heath insurance with petsmart, she is covered for the parvo shots... should i get her now, or should i wait until they know if she got the virus or not?

Can she get a shot before you are sure if shes infected or you can just get that done anytime?

I got another dog also, a miniature dober-man 1yr old, he already got his shots.

PLEASE HELP

I honestly dont know the answer to your question but nobody else replied. I would contact a good vet and talk to them they should definitely be able to help you. Good Luck!

I do not know the answer,I have never had any issues with parvo before.Your best bet would be to talk to a good vet in your area.See what they have to say and go from there.

Did you post a while ago saying they had taken the puppy back because it did have Parvo? I'm sorry to tell you this, but if you have not gotten your dog back by now he/she has most likley lost the battle.

My dog had Parvo when he was 3 months old...he would have died in three days if not properly treated. It took 1 1/2 weeks for him to recover and be braught home from the vet. Contact the person who took the dog from you (I'm not really sure if you brought it to the vet or back to the breeder?)Anycase..They should have been in contact with you by now to tell you how the dog is doing. Parvo acts very fast and kills a dog within days.....it's been a while now so they should have told you what has happened by now. I am very sorry to hear about this situation. Best of luck and I hope you get some answers from who ever has your dog.

Ok, thanks for replying...

What happened is this...
My uncle offer me a dog, we supposed to pick her up when she got 2mo old, that was last saturday, we call him to make arangements to pick her up, since he lives 4hr away from us.. he said a dog infected with parvo has been around the puppies so he took them to the vet, and he told him he should wait about 6 days to see if the dogs got infected or not.

Right after he told us about him giving us the dog, we went to Petsmart and get her the health plan, and it does cover parvo shot... but i dont know if its only preventive or a cure. When i called PetsMart to aks a vet, they told me i should bring the puppy to them if she has been expossed, they also told me my other dog is not in risk since he had his parvo shot while ago.

So i dont know...

Should i bring her and take her to petsmart for them to run test, or should i wait til they know if she is already infected?

Thanks

i would suggest that you wait until your uncle gets back to you with the results.. in the healthcare plan you purchased it covers vaccinations which are preventative for parvo.. if you take it to petsmart and they conclude she does indeed have parvo they will charge you to treat her and you may lose her.. parvo is a pretty serious illness and if you do bring her home and she does indeed have parvo you will have now infected your home.. once your home is infected you will not be able to bring in another puppy for a while (some suggest 6mos., some say 1yr.).. your uncle was very wise to advise you to wait and see if she is infected.. good luck and i hope everything turns out well for you and the little pup

Parvo takes one week to have the dog in a decrepid state. Has it been longer than a week? If so your safe

Yippeeee.
TG things worked out well. Do take her to the vet as she will need a few shots so she can go out into this big contaminated world...safely.

Cheers

Worried: You refered above to the type of cross that you have, there is no such breed (minature doberman) it is called a Minature Pinscher, which is no relation whatsover to the Doberman. I am glad to hear your puppy is ok. But I do have a question for you it appears that your uncle has Min-Pins, Chi's and Jacks? You mentioned you have now a 1/2 brother 1/2 sister. Not that it is any of my business but I hope you fix one of these dogs due to even though they are a TOY BREED and yes I am sure they are cute. I feel even your uncle is taking a big chance by crossing these breeds. The Min-pins themselves can weigh anywhere from 5 lbs up to ones that are oversized up to 25 lbs...with the chi-they can range from iddy biddy to 13lb/s....Its just a big risk for the female..Now the jack and the min-pins are similar in nature with weight and so forth..My concern is mixing the chi in there is not a safe thing to do..Well you take care and have fun with your new pup..

Well...

I called him miniature doberman cause thats what he looks like.. can care less about the REAL name of the breed, i did not mean to insult your inteligence.

Now, the boy is fixed already so we have nothing to worrie about, the new girl is being fixed also when is time for her

And they dont have any blood-relationship between them... they both come from different places, but they both have some jack russel on them

And no, my uncle does not have min pins, chihuahas and jack russell's... he aint a breeder... he just got a girl chihuahua who played around... EHHEHE

See ya !
