early this morning 6 medium sized mixed breed puppies were left in the parking lot of my college. i rescued 2 of them. i was able to find one a home and now the other is in here with me. the puppy look to be 10 or so weeks old, with all of its milk teeth! my question is this: i have a puppy myself who will be 1 in two weeks.. she is completely up to date on her shots receiving the boosters from 8 weeks of age until 16 weeks when she received her last booster and a rabies. three weeks ago she got a parvo/corona booster and is due for the yearly boosters in june. is it safe to have her around the puppy? the puppy acts very healthy; however i sincerely doubt it has had any vaccines.. i will only have the puppy for a few more days, until i find it home but can my vaccinated puppy acquire any illnesses (my main concern being parvo) from this little one? please let me know.. ps right now my puppy is at my boyfriends parents house because of my concern but i miss her and they can't keep her there long IP: Logged |

Hi Bell, if I were in the same situation I would probably try to keep them in a separate area at your place if you can, I dont know how small they are but. One time due to a simaliar situation and knowing the pup I had found, we had made out of 2 huge frig boxes connected them together and kept the pup in there so that if the pup we found at least if he was sick the exposure to my other dogs was minimal. Makes me upset that they left them like they did, they do that with pups and kittens at our local zoo hoping someone will find homes for em..they do this verses the pound and being put to sleep. I think luck will be on your side..You rescued 2 puppies, for some reason I just don't think parvo will be a issue on this situation..just take precautions.. Good Luck..keep us informed Doc~ 2003 P.S A parking lot what were those people thinking with cars and so forth. IP: Logged |

as of right now i still have my puppy (bella) at my boyfriends parents' house and the rescued pup here.. i went to petsmart today and they wanted $110 to vaccinate; which is too much for me to spend and more than my own vet would charge, the humane society does not vaccinate until tues. or wed.. i plan to bring bella back home once the puppy is gone or vaccinated.. but my question is: the puppy is still acting healthy so how much cleaning of my apt. would you recommend before bringing bella back.. i plan to clean the floors with cleaner (it's all wood floors) but is it okay to not clean the rugs? and what, if any, illnesses/parasites should i be concerned that this pup may pass onto bella? here's an update: puppy is still here with me and bella is still at my boyfriends parents'. i took puppy to my vet today and she got her first shots as well as a treatment for the mange he found and a treatment for the hookworms he found.. he guessed she was 10 weeks old like i did and she weighs 6.5lbs.. she looks to be a rotty/german shepard mix but maybe a smaller dog like a beagle somewhere in there.. our guess is she'll be 20-30lb. adult.. thanks for the replies IP: Logged |

I was curious as to what happened to the other four puppies? Why someone would do that is beyond me, kudos to you for your hand of kindness. IP: Logged |

the other four puppies were rescued as well.. a nice man with his two teenage children took the first two, a nice women took the second two and i took the last two.. she is doing well, already paper trained and pretty good with the crate; however she does wake up with night terrors and cries in her sleep whoever owned the mother obviously did not care for their own dog and definitely did not care about the puppies!
