Can anyone tell me anything about rottweilers??? My boyfriend wants one really bad and I was wondering what kind of dog they are, how their personalities are, if they are hard to take care of, if they get along well with kids and other dogs especailly small dogs...cause I breed peekapoos?? Can someone help...maybe give me some tips....the pros and cons of rottweilers. Maybe even post some pics for us to look at...if all goes well...we may want to purchase...we live in Virginia.

Thanks :0)

Hey,
Rotties are wonderful dogs. They are easy to care for. They need alot of attition and love from theiir owners.Rotties are great with children. They are protective of their family, but also are very loving. They need lots of room to run or need to be walked atleast twice a day.I love rotties, they are wonderful dogs.

I have a rottweiler who I actually rescues from a shelter she is wonderful. Believe it or not rotty breeders say if you dont want a dog that follows you around everywhere dont get one. I know in my case that is exactly how she is. She is a big lap dog who always wants to curl up next to me and is always in whatever room im in. They can definitely be a little stubborn so it may take a little more patience when training but they are very receptive to it. They do have alot of energy and if not directed in the right place can get into mischief. They just need exercise. I hope this helps and good luck

All dogs are great regardless of breed. Larger dogs require a lot more training and socializing because they do have a much larger bite than your average dog.
My suggestion to you is to understand the breed, especially if you are bringing an adult dog into a home with other animals or children.
Learn about what the purpose was for breeding the Rotweiler back when the breed was created and understand that those traits will most likley still be active in the dog you choose today. Knowing about the breed will help you greatly. Rotweilers are a dominant breed...you will definatley want to learn how to manage a dominant dog with a rotweiler...all dogs are different...the amount of dominance your dog will have can be determined at the time you pick out your puppy. Talk to a breeder in your area on what to expect form this breed.
