My cat has been sick since Tues - not eating/drinking/lethargy. I've brought her to the vet and xrays and bloodwork has been done. They have no diagnosis - suspect intestinal blockage, viral infection, pancreatities etc. I have her scheduled for an ultrasound on Monday. In the meantime I'm feeding her via tube (liquid food/water) but she cant seem to keep that down and just also had some diarrhea. Any help would be appreciated! IP: Logged |

I dont know how much help this is going to be for you considering you might already be doing this. Make sure that the food you are feeding her is a lil warmer than room temperature. If it is too cold or too hot it could make her tummy upset. Also be sure that water is room temperature as well. Make sure you pushing the food through the tube very slowly. If you are to feed her 15cc/ml of food than try doing 1cc/ml every 2-3 minutes. If she is having diarrhea keep a close eye on her to be sure she dosent get dehydrated. If you gently pull on the skin on the back of her neck and it does not have the elasticity it is soppose to have and does not fall quickly back into place than call your vet ASAP. Also call your vet to see if there is something else that you could be feeding her via tube. The food you are feeding now might be too rich. You can also try a vitamin supplement called nutrical by placing it on her tongue. However it has also been known to cause diarrhea. I hope some of this helped. Keep us posted. IP: Logged |

I would definately use nutrical. It will be a lot more pleasant for her than tube feeding. If she doesn't want to eat it on her own (most cats like it), you can put it on the roof of her mouth a little bit at a time and she will lick it off.
