I have a 5 month old kitten, she will be getting spayed (hopefully) in the middle of December if she weighs enough. The past two days she's been NUTS. She's still using the litter box, eating properly and being affectionate at times. ------------------ IP: Logged |

It sounds like she's in heat. Unless she is the littlest cat ever at five months, she should have weighed enough between 2-3 months of age to be spayed. If she's allowed outside she may get pregnant by another male in the neighborhood. Is there anyway, you can take her to the vet sooner to get spayed? IP: Logged |

Well, I planned to call Monday to see if we could get her in in the middle of December, which is only 2 weeks away. She's an indoor cat, so I am not worried about her being preggo. I was told by the vet and the Humane Society that the kitty had to weigh 6lbs before getting spayed. She weighed in at 3.2lbs the last time we were there (Nov 6th). ------------------ IP: Logged |

6 lbs? That is a lot. Some of my cats didn't weigh that much until they were full grown. At 5 months old unless she is a really tiny cat she should be big enough. I have had several done at 4 months old. IP: Logged |

I know in Ontario they will not fix a cat until their 6mths old but that sounds like a lot for a cat to weigh. One of my old cats who has passed away was the runt of he litter and only weighed 5lbs her whole life. You should get a second opinion. IP: Logged |
