Hello all,

I adopted a cat from the humane society 3 days ago. Last night she started sneezing. This morning she is salivating like crazy. She has been indoors since I adopted her and hasn't had access to any plants or household chemicals. She doesn't have any discharge from her eyes or nose and seems alert. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing her to sneeze and salivate?

In shelters and pounds cats are exposed to a variety of illnesses. Many cats once they leave the pound will develope upper respiratory. Keep an eye on her and see if you can get her into the vet. Some cats can kick it on their own in about 5 days. If it progresses any longer than that or gets worse than she definately needs to be seen. Make sure she is still eating and drinking. Keep her nostrils free of goo which could cause her to not smell her food.
