I don't think so. I had a pure bred German Shepard for 10 years(he just recently passed in July)and he was really smart. The dog spoke english,I swear he did. My cat only knows 2 words..treat and food. It's not because I haven't tried teaching her,and I talk to her all the time just like I did with my dog.Maybe dogs are just more trainable? I think dogs are smarter. I love my cat, but I miss my dog so much!!!!

I think that they are probably about the same. THe cats, however, are more independant and don't like being bossed around as much, therefore are less likely to do as you tell them! Dogs, on the other hand, are the people pleasers of the animal world! If my dog is doing something bad, it takes about two NO's before his tail is between his legs as far as it could possibly go, the cat, however, could care less!

I have cats and dogs and I think both are equally smart.

Cats. For me, it'd most definately be cats. Mine can open the doors, etc., and do you ever see a cat drinking out of the toilet? And they may not 'speak english', like your dog, but that's because they are more independent animals and can take care of themselves. And, no offense to dog lovers, but no matter how dumb of things you say to a dog, most will always look at you like, 'Gee, good point. I would never have thought of that!' I like dogs a lot too, but who's smarter? I say cats.

Yes. LOL. Mine will drink out of the toilet and play in it and one of them will stick his paw in and out under the toilet seat and let it bang down over and over and over. For this reason I don't allow them in the bathroom...unless Im in there with them.

I had a cat that would only drink out of the toilet. I also have some other cat and toilet stories but they are kind of gross!
