Hello. My aunt wanted advice about her cat, but I was unable to help her. She has two cats. One of which she got three months ago. She is an 8 year old cat that she adopted from a man that passed away. Both cats get along well. They are both indoor cats and before her adoption she was an indoor cat as well. The problem is that she poops right in the doorway, so when my aunt gets back from work and opens the door....well it gets smeared all over. She placed the litter box near the door, but this has not helped. The cat will use the litter box if it is all new litter. However, after that she won't use it. My aunt does keeps the litter box clean. Not only that, but the litter box is one of those automated ones that scoops itself clean 10 minutes after the cat has been in it. Does anyone have any advice? IP: Logged |

How many litter boxes does she have? If only one, adding a second litter box may help. Has the cat done this for the past 3 months that your aunt has had her or is this new behavior? Hello Nern. Thank you for your reply. Yes, my aunt only has one litter box. Also, the cat has been doing this since she was adopted. I'm sure it has not been easy on the cat to have lost her previous person and having to move into a new home. She does like my aunt though and wants to spend every minute with her (she follows her around the house). I'll mention to my aunt that a second litter box might help.
