Please help. My ten year old cat, Trixi was taken to the vets on tuesday after she was lethargic and not eating. She usually cant keep still and is always out and about, so we knew instantly that something wasnt right. The vet upon inspection suspected that it was either a heart or liver problem. The blood tests confirmed that it was the latter and showed that Trixi had a high level of white blood cells. He diagnosed her as inflammation of the liver and bile ducts caused by a bacterical infection. He put her on a drip and administered anti-biotics to combat the infection. Unfortunately days later she still is no better and is not eating any food . The vets have had to resort to force feeding her which i can imagine is extremly distressing for her. She also has accumulated fluid due her low protein levels. As there was no improvemment we insited that they do further tests. Trixi had an ultrasound scan and it showed there was dark patches on liver. From the scan it is difficult to say what these patches are and a biopsy would be needed, which she is too ill for. Mum and I dont know what to do. We feel so helpless and cant bear to see trixi so unwell. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Shes part of the family and we cant give up on hereven though the vet said it doesnt look good.

love Selina

Oh my heart is out to you selina, and your angel trixi. I really do not know much about liver problems in cats, so I cant comment on your sweethearts condition:(
But there are many people, good people, on this board that have been down that road before. I am sure you can get your questions answered here. Stay strong ok? Trixi is very lucky to have a Mommy who loves her like you do!

God Bless..
