Definatly do more research on homemade cat food. I used to make it and it is cheaper in the long run. Is also a pain in the a#* to make. For carbs, ingredients include millet, rice, and oatmeal. My cats hated it but I thought it was good for them so I kept doing it for about a month. That was until my sister's cat who had been on the homemade diet developed kidney disease from eating too much protein. Who would have thought a cat could have too much protein. But as with humans on a high protein diet, the kidney works overtime to digest the extra protein.

Talk with your vet and get their opinion and if you do decide to go ahead with the diet read up on books that tell you how to make it. There are a ton of vitamens that go into it and they have to be added at certain temperatures otherwise they are not effective.
