Please help! My cat of 4 months is about 5 years old. The old owner had to part with her but the cat has no bad behaviors. She is sweet, affectionate and good. However, many times a day she swats at, hisses at and growls loudly at her own tail. She is a healthy cat with no injuries or skin disorders. The sounds she makes are unnerving because they are so loud and so very angry sounding. She finally gets up and runs away from her tail! LOL! She does not attack any humans ever. Why does she do this again and again? IP: Logged |

Maybe she is bored and is trying to entertain herself? You never know. My cat chases her tail. But only when she is on the bed! I think it's cuz my comforter is orangy/yellow and she can see her tail better (she's black). ------------------ IP: Logged |

I agree with kayliface. I think they just get bored and they see the tail moving around. Both my cats do it and they are 5yrs and 3 months old. Im pretty sure most cats grow out of it while others still find it fun to sneak a peak at the long fuzzy thing that is attached If you find the noises she makes too much to handle maybe you could hang a string from a high area in a room you are not in much and let her go to town with that. It will keep her entertained and maybe she will forget about her tail good luck, and remember shes just trying to keep busy, and stay entertained. ------------------ IP: Logged |
