Yes, the title did say FLIES as opposed to fleas. I have two cats who acquired fleas while staying at a friends house. After bombing and bathing and dipping, the fleas are gone. However, I'm finding a different problem. While combing one of my cats I noticed that there were FLIES in the comb...sort of amber colored fruit flies with larger wings? any ideas as to what these critters are and how I should attempt to get rid of THEM?

I think I know what 'flies' you are talking about. I had a similar problem months ago. If I am correct, those flies seem to appear when there is food left laying around or around garbage bags. If that is the case, make sure there is nothing like that left around, clean your apartment/house really well just to be on the safe side. After you do that I would give the kitty another bath, but with a MILD soap. (my vet recommened DAWN dish detergent)....believe it or not. And it worked really well. After the kitty is completley dry, I gave him a dose of "Advantage" and within 12 hours, I didnt see a thing anywhere.

Of course, the BEST thing to do is call your vet first and see what they recommend, I am certainly no expert Good luck!!

Thank you very much, clwasilko42...this is helpful information! I'm positive that I don't have any food lying around, but I'll be sure to scour the place. (You never know what kitties can find and hide.) Thanks for the tip on the DAWN. I've got plenty of that around! (I will be sure to call the vet too...just wondered if anyone had seen anything like this before.) Thanks again!
