I have a couple of stressed cats who don't seem to want to get along. Someone suggested I try "Rescue Remedy" to help calm them down. Right now I'll try about anything. Has anyone tried this? If so, how fast does it work and how long do the effects last? Thanks!

Someone has to have used these. I am very interested in people's experiences as well.

Well I bought some resuce remedy and put a couple of drops on their tongues. They absolutely hated the taste, it smells awful so I can't blame them. My 12-y.o. girl REALLY mellowed out, she actually came and sat beside me which she never ever does. She was purring a lot and didn't mind my picking her up (she usually fusses). It took about 1/2 hour to work and lasted for 3-4 hours. I was skeptical about this but it does seem to work. I read a lot about it and there are no side effects and you can't overdose on it. My 2-y.o. boy wasn't quite as mellow but he did seem calmer. I spoke to someone at GNC where I bought it who uses it for her cat who is afraid of thunderstorms, it has helped her a lot too.

I think you can put it in their water, so they don't really taste it. I have a cat who is on prozac b/c she rips out her fur, I was considering using one of these once we get the problem under control. I would prefer a more natural approach if there is one. What formula have you been using?

I've been using the Bach rescue remedy in the 20 ml dropper size, it's the product on this website: http://www.buy-cheaper-online.co.uk/all/rescue-remedy-20-ml-.asp

You can also get it in a spray form or can make your own by adding some to a spray bottle with water. Today I rubbed a few drops onto their ears because they hate the taste so much. It took longer for it to act but when I came home at 6 pm after giving it to them at lunch at 1:30, my girl was still really mellow and happy and sat with us at dinner and stayed around us the whole time we were downstairs. This is amazing for her as most of her waking hours are usually spent upstairs on our bed. There's a good list of testimonials at

I agree, I try to give my babies as many natural remedies as possible. When my 12 y.o. was diagnosed with arthritis, the vet wanted to put her on prednisone but we stuck it out with glucosamine which has helped her tremendously.

I just bought some yesterday to tyr on a male cat who is very territorial. Someone
said it may work to keep him from spraying.
I put some in his food. No results.....
Maybe it takes time to build up??!
I'll keep trying until the bottle is empty at least

I think there are different formulas for different desired effects, maybe you didnt get the right formula? I don't really know since I haven't used them.

I used the standard "Rescue Remedy" on my cats and it does appear to be helping. I think that you may see immediate results or it may take a while to take effect, it's been about a week and my 12-y.o. girl seems happier and more relaxed overall, my 2-y.o. boy is a ball of energy but he does seem to be more content. This is a mixture of 5 specific flower escences, but Fleafly is correct in that there are other flowers recommended for different situations (i.e. fear, aggression, etc.). Take a look at
