I adopted an abanded kitten (maybe 4 weeks old) a week ago. I took her to a vet to get a check up and he gave her a deworming. The next day she started womiting and got weaker. I took her to the emergency vet and and they tried to save her but two hours later, she died. Is it possible that the vet gave her an overdose of the deworming fluid? Hoping to hear if anybody else have had a similar incident.

I am so very sorry to hear about your kitten. My vet gives very small portions of the deworming medicine, so I don't think that could be the cause.

What did you vet say was the cause of her death?

It is possible that it was related to the deworming, but it probably wasn't. Kittens are very prone to infections, especially abandoned ones. They can go down hill very fast from an infection. The death rate for kittens that have their moms is around 30%, so chances are there is nothing that could have been done for her. I am sorry that she died, I know how hard it is to lose a kitten.

I am very sorry to hear about your kitten...I completley understand what you are going thru..... I saved an abandoned 6 week old kitten from a farm a few months back. It died when it was 11 weeks old.....When he 1st died I thought it was an overdose of some medicine also, but it turned out that my kitten was just very sick..... Again I am sorry for your loss. You should get another kitten as soon as possible, believe me, it helps A LOT. I went to my local shelter and adopted two kittens, brother and sister.

I lost a litter of 4 last week. One on tues and three on wed. I notice on the 1st kitten who died had a lot of blood spots like he was bitten to death by fleas. I panic and gave the remain 3 a bath. They were fine until they nurse off their who lately was trying to advoid nursing them. Earlier this summer she had a litter of 6. Her nipples harden up and basically disaapear and one had 2 availble. They refuse to let me feed them and my other nursing refuse to nurse so sadly the kittens all died.

I am glad to hear that others have gone through the same as me. Though I only had it for 1 week, I got really attached to it. The doctor never got a chance to do any tests before it died. She took her blood and said it was fine. The kitten was very dehydrated and had only vomited yellow foam earlier that evening. They were going to do a blood transfusion, but the kitten died before it happen, in case it would help her. I have the cat's sister and I notice that she misses her too. She cries all the time and runs around looking for her.
