Hi. My cats are almost 13 years old. They have always been very healthy cats. Every year, we have a retired vet come to our home to vaccinate them (and the dogs). He doesn't really check them over much, just gives them their shots.

I am starting to think I should bring them in to the vet for checkups. But they have not been out of our house since we moved in 10 years ago, and they are already stressed out by our new puppy that has been chasing them for the past two months (we are working on this).

Do you think I should bring them in for a checkup? Could it possibly be so stressful for them that it could instigate health problems in an otherwise healthy kitty? Is there anything a vet might find that would actually be treatable and therefore worth it to bring them in?

I live in a small town and there is a vet service here that comes to your home. You might check around to see if there is one where you live.

I really don't think it would start health problems to take them in. They would probably be upset about it. You could work your way up to it by first taking them out in a carrier, then putting them in the car, then driving a bit etc...
