I have a spayed female cat that we have kept indoors almost her entire 14 years of life. Within the last 2 weeks she has changed from a loving yet demanding part of our 3 member family with my husband and I. She would be waiting for us at the door when we returned home from work, insist that we go to bed when SHE was ready and lie on the bed with us, give ONLY my husband nose smooches and cry at the door when he'd take laundry down to the dryer. Now she spends most of her time under the bed and gets wild-eyed when my husband approaches her and darts under the bed. She has grown a significant lump on the back of her neck beneath the collar line (collar removed). I fear it may be cancer and without the money to spend on surgery and cancer treatment that will inevitably lead to an end, I don't know what else to do except find something to relieve her discomfort. My husband did wake up this morning to find her perched sleeping on his back then she snuggled next to me and 'talked' but once my husband rolled over she spooked and went under the bed again. He is heartbroken that she runs from him when before she couldn't be apart from him. I'm sure she's just afraid we'll hurt her 'boo boo'. Her life isn't even close to the point of being so miserable that she would need to be euthanized...she is still in good condition and eats and functions normally. Can I find a pain remedy somewhere to try and get some normalcy back in her routine? IP: Logged |

It could be a benign tumor, or something else. You need to take her to the vet to at least find out what it is. It might be something that is easily fixed. IP: Logged |
