Hi, I have a 2 year old indoor cat named Dudley. A while back I had an emergency and had to leave my dogs home alone all day and one peed in one spot upstairs and the other in one spot downstairs. I did a really good job of cleaning it up (so I thought). That was close to 6 months ago. Anyway Dudley has been peeing on those spots lately every single day. He's been doing it for about 2 weeks now. We have been cleaning it up with oxiclean and the smell goes away but he just keeps going back to those 2 spots. I don't know what to do, my husband says if it continues I will have to find him another home! He is a neutered male. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try a different cleaner. Get one at the pet store that is meant to neutralize urine, such as Nature's Best. Follow the instructions on the bottle.

Make sure his litter box is clean.

Good advice - I will pick up a new cleaner today. We have made it a point to clean his litter box twice a day since we first noticed the problem. He still does it so it's not that...

Using an odor neutralizer is a great idea. They do more than just clean the area.

Pet stores carry them and they really work. The neutralizer can get that spot to stop smelling like the pee all together. Hopefully then the cat won't want to go there again.

Also, I've heard the suggestion of putting food in the area where you don't want the cat to pee. They don't like to eat where they go to the bathroom.

Keep us posted.

I agree with using a cleaner such as Nature's Miracle and wanted to also suggest spraying some Feliway around the areas that the cat keeps going on. Keep us posted.

A cat wil not pee where it has to eat. Clean the spots again really well and then move their food and water almost completely over the spots. Soon they will associate those areas as food areas but not potty areas. You could also try covering it will aluminum foil or double sided tape. Kitties hate those textures.

Okay, I went out today and bought Nature's Miracle and double sided tape. I'm going to clean the carpets and put the tape down tonight. If that doesn't work that's where he'll be eating this week. Thanks for the advice!
