About a month ago I noticed a nickel-sized patch of hair was missing on my cat. It was roundish and pink, and looked as if it had just been ripped out. We suspected our dog may have nipped the cat and pulled out the fur, so I treated it with some antibiotic ointment and it healed (Hair began to grow back, as well.).
Now there are two such sores around the cat's neck region and one on his back - although the back region sore isn't round shaped like the first ones. This cat does not go outside.

I suspected possibly worms or mites as the cause for these round neck sores, but this new one on his back doesn't look like the others. I don't have the money for a vet trip
for him right now, and I'm afraid to treat him with any type of insecticide as it would likely make the sores even worse. Help!

I only have one idea on this. Try combing through the fur with a fine comb to see if there are fleas. Some cats are allergic to flea saliva and react by over-grooming to the point of pulling out fur (and not letting it heal back).

If you find fleas there are different treatments you can use. If you don't find fleas, then try the antibiotic ointment again and see if they heal ok.

My cat has a flea allergy. Your problem sounds different to me. If it is flea allergy the cat will scratch & bite almost constantly. Mainly around the top of back, base of tail, tail, and sometimes stomach. Also, you can feel little bumps or scabs under chin and on affected back area. Good luck with your kitty.
