I have a rescued spayed 5 month old kitten who pees in my bed while I am sleeping. She does this on the comforter I am under. She uses her litter box all other times and only does this when I am in bed. She has been vet checked with no known problems. Please help! my husband is ready to take her back to the shelter.

You say she has been vet checked but was she urinating on your bed at that time? If not, I would probably take her back to the vet to rule out UTI or bladder infection. Otherwise, she may be marking her territory. You can either keep your bedroom off limits to her or try spraying some Feliway on your bed and around your bedroom. Feliway is supposed to deter cats from territorial spraying. Good luck. IP: Logged |

I'm sorry but it makes me mad when people want to get rid of animals because they are peeing. They pee either b/c of 1) medical problems or 2) behavior problems. Both of which can almost always be fixed. A lot of animals are given away for peeing when they have a treatable medical condition like a UTI. If you made the commitment to get her I think you owe her the respect of trying to fix the problem and not just taking her back to the shelter. Start with another vet visit to rule out medical problems. IP: Logged |

In this situation it sounds like your husband is the one who wants to take her back, so I'm sorry if my comments were a little displaced. This happens all the time though and I had to vent. IP: Logged |

My husband is very intolerant of my cats as well. He knows better than to ever even MENTION giving them away.

I am not married but have had boyfriends who don't like cats. If they insist on getting rid of the cats, then I would rather get rid of them! IP: Logged |
