We have a 14 week old Kitten that we have had for about 2 weeks, he has thrown up a few times in the last 2 days and now has diahrea. He is still very playfull, but not eating alot but he is drinking. Also right before he threw up he made a real odd moaning sound. I can not say if the kids gave him any food or if he ate the dogs food. (I caught him eating the dogs food a few days ago)He is our first kitten and I do not want to be the goofy New mom calling the vet every day over nothing, but I want to do the right thing. I am inclined to see how he does tomorrow before I call the vet

Did you change his food or anything lately? Sometimes those changes can give kittens a little diarrhea. If it has been going on two days it might be worms or something else. I would call the vet in the morning and ask him over the phone what he thinks. Sometimes things we don't think are serious turn out to be. I called once with what I thought was a mild problem, and the vet said to bring my cat in right away. It doesn't hurt to call, most vets are really good about it.

Make sure he doesn't eat the dog food. I have read several times about how cats/kittens should never eat dog food.

My kitten (now 6 months old) had diahrea for the first two weeks after I brought her home and wasn't eating much either. The vet recommended a mixture of white rice and boiled chicken, blended to the consistancy of baby food. I fed this to her for a week and her bowel movements became more solid.

Has he had his shots and been de-wormed?

Go ahead and be the goofy new mom who calls the vet every five mintues. Lord knows they are paid enough.

You should have seen me with my first kitten. I called the vet in a panic the first time kitty started making that horrid coughing noise they do when trying to hack up a hairball. I thought he was choking to death or something. They didn't even laugh at me (very much).
