Hi all,

This is my first time here. I hope someone can help me. Here's my problem:

I have 2 Siamese Kitties. Simon is my boy he is 6 months old and Karley who is my girl and she is 4 months. The problem I have is with my girl. She almost always uses her litter,but sometimes she pees in dirty cloths baskets and I got a new down comforter and the first day I put it on my bed she peed on it. So, I picked it up from the drycleaners yesterday and she peed on it again. What can I do to get her to stop this? Her litter is clean and she get a ton of attention(probably more than Simon). HELP!!!

You might want to take her to the vet to test for a bladder infection. That can make them pee outside the litter box.

Keep the box clean, and perhaps try a new kind of litter if that doesn't help. Make sure anything she has peed on has been treated with some sort of cleaner that gets the smell out. Cats have VERY good noses and if they smell urine they will use that spot again. You can pick up enzymatic cleaners made for that purpose at any pet store. I have used Nature's Miracle with good results (although I haven't tried it in the laundry).

We have a cat whose box has to be scooped every day (clumping litter) or she will pee on the floor. She used to pee on anything fabric that was on the floor, until we figured out what we going on and started keeping the box ultra clean.

Maybe there is something about the comforter that makes her want to pee on it. Try using a different one for a few days and see if she pees on another one, or just the down one.

You say she almost always uses the litterbox,,, thats what ash did, then he peed on the couch and I made his owner (our roomate) take him to the vet. Bladder infection was the cause.

My cat peed on my comforter once too. I was in the room and saw him pawing around in it, as if digging. The noise the rustling comforter makes is similar to the noise of digging in litter, and when the bed is unmade, I think he feels like he's digging in the comforter.

then again, It was also durring his one and only experience with cat nip, which I have banned from my house for fear that it caused him to not use the litter.

Hi ,

Thanks for all your help! I took her to the vet and they said she is healthy. The vet gave me that Feliway to try when I get my comforter back from the cleaners. My other cat likes to scratch at the carpet so, I sprayed the carpet and it worked. I hope it works as well with the peeing.

I think the catnip and peeing was just coincidental. I have never had bathroom issues derive from the use of catnip. You might give it another try.
