My 13 yr. old male cat recently started to lose weight, have breath that smelled like poop, lost his spunk and liveliness and his pupils stayed large and never dialated. I took him to the vet and she said that it was a kidney problem and it could be fatal. Has this happened to anyone else and if so what happened to your cat?
Thanks

Did your vet specify what the problem was? Kidney disease maybe?

I had a cat who developed kidney problems. We gave her fluid under the skin for a few weeks and feed her special food and she recovered very well.

My cat recently died from Kidney disease. We were told that he possibly got it from eating Meow Mix or Friskies cat food. We had no idea these two types of food could cause such a problem. He only lived for a few weeks after being diagnosed and we were told there wasn't anything more the doctor could do. I hope this is not the same diagnosis for your cat. Good Luck!!!!

The vet says that it could be Kidney disease(but not chronic) or a kidney infection. He's been at the vet for 6 days and he hasn't been eating on his on so they have to use a syring. That might be just because when we're not with him he doesn't eat. They put him on an I.V to keep him hydrated because when he first went to the vet he was very dehydrated. Everyday they've been taking his blood and on the chart, the first day he was there, the reading was 84 when it should be 12! Everyday he drops though and yesterday he was at 39. The Dr. would like him to be no more than 20. I guess I'll see what it is today and I'll post it. He's coming home today so maybe he'll get better at home. Please post suggestions. Thanks
