I live in Tennesee, and my grandparents own a farm, for 19 years they have had a cat named callie. She was the sweetest cat you coiuld ever wish to meet! i loved her so much. Well, the last few years of her life, she played dead a lot ( she was deaf, and she would be sleeping and we thought she was dead every time! Once we even dug a grave, and then we saw her walking around!) But there was something really strange about her, she was balding. i owuild like to know why this is, they took her to the vet 2 times a year. she died last week. but i have always wanted to know why she lost her hair...Is is a disease? old age?
Another strange thing about her is that her best friend was a donkey. She would crawl up on a tractor, then Eeyore would get beside the tractor, and she would get on his back. i saw that cat napping on eeyore more times than i can count. Eeyore was so gentle with her, he would always walk really carefully when she was on his back, he would be careful of how he ate grass, so she wouldn't fall off, they were so close. Eeyore has gone into depression since her passing, we found him laying by her tiny little body, he wouldn't let us get near her, he didn't want to say goodbye. Is there anything we can do for him? My heart goes out to him, because i know how it feels to loose a loved one. Please post advice!

I live on a farm, too, and have many "barn kitties" -- They're the best! My guess is that she lost her hair because of fleas. I have several cats that have this problem and I know it's because of fleas. The problem with barn kitties is that you can never get rid off all the fleas in the barns, straw, etc., so even when I give them flea medicine, it only lasts briefly. About your kitties' friend donkey... what a sweetheart! Perhaps give him lots of extra attention to help ease his pain. I'm sorry about this loss, but I enjoyed hearing your story about the donkey and kitty.

Hey I live in TN too! And I agree with the idea that it's fleas, but maybe she is under stress?
