When we got Jessie back from the vet after her intestinal surgery, the post op instructions were to keep her on "restricted activity" limited to one room of the house, until her staples were removed, 10 days after we picked her up. that is 13 days post-surgery. Well she has been home seven days now (today is the 8th) and she is driving us NUTS locked up in the room. She obviously feels fine, she's eating, and drinking, and wants to get out and see the other cat!! I know it's in her best interest to keep her quiet as long as possible so she doesn't rupture either of the incisions. but man, living until friday with her crying and tearing up the carpet at the door is gonna be rough IP: Logged |

I mentioned to you in another post about my cat having surgery from eating an earplug. Well, he had staples, too. He wasn't allowed to do stairs. We kept him on one floor (with the other cats) and he did fine. Would you be able to restrict the cat onto a floor? Would that make it easier for you and still keep him restricted on activity? Either way, it will hopefully go back to normal soon! (By the way, how does your cat like the staples? My cat picked at them constantly, determined to get them out. We had to put a collar on him to keep him from biting at the staples. He was miserable!) IP: Logged |

unfortunately with the way our house is laid out there is no way to restrict her to one floor. I am not sure if we are even keeping her restricted enough... she is jumping up on the bed, windowsill, etc. which seems worse than stairs to me, but it's not like we have an empty (padded LOL) room in the house anyway... She doesn't seem to mind the staples much, she does clean the incision a lot but all the staples still seem to be there. at least I hope they are! we have been letting ariel in the room a lot, and she has stopped hissing at her, and even cleaned her once, which makes me feel better about that.
