I adopted a cat from a shelter about 2 months ago... She is about 4-6yrs old and a very large female tortoise shell (13lbs) but shes not fat. The weird behavior is the way she walks. She has a "prissy" walk where her butt waddles back and forth. I dont know if you can picture it but it looks similar to when a woman struts and pushes her hips to each side as she steps.. only in cat form. also when i pet her and she is standing her tail will shake like a nervous twitch... Could there be something wrong or is that just her???

Hi

I don't know about your kitty's walk but I may be able to answer your cat's tail twitch. Does it kinda look like a rattle snake's tail when she twitches it? My cat does that and it shivers like a rattle snakes tail. It's usually when she greets me or when I pat her so I can only assume its when she's happy.

Thanks for the reply Cat. yes it does shake like a rattlesnakes tail. It doesn't seem to bother her i was just curious about it because with the walk it looks wierd. But as long as shes not the only one i feel better...

A few of mine do the rattlesnake tail shake too. They usually do it when I talking sweet to them or petting them. I read that it means that the cat is in an extreme state of excitement. Also, my siamese mix does the prissy butt walk sometimes. She was just doing it yesterday while swishing her tale from side to side as she was walking away from me when I was calling her name. Its the cutest thing.
