It's still kitten season at the pound. I watch as someone brings in yet another litter of kittens and know that for some of them, there will not be a good ending. Every year there are more kittens than there are homes for them. We need to end this tradgedy.

SPAY OR NEUTER your pet!!!!!!

Ask at yor local pound for low cost services if you can't afford the cost of a vet. Pounds often have services below $50 per animal. This is much less than it costs to feed a kitten for a year. The easy availability of kittens makes them a throw away pet. The number of adult animals that are turned into the pound basically because they are no longer kittens would make you sick. I heard a man turn in a 8 month old cat with kittens and then ask to adopt an 8 week old one. He wanted a new model. (The pound said no but I'm sure someone trying to get rid of a litter will give him one and the cycle will repeat.) If we are not part of the solution; we are part of the problem. Please spay or neuter your pet for all our sakes.

Its sad that this is such a strong subject....But its also true. We all should take the effort to have our pets fixed. I understand that everyone cant do this for "some" reason. But I too think that this is horrible that the poor kitties (and other pets) in shelters sometimes end up lifeless.

I couldnt agree more, I hate to think of all those unwanted animals in shelters and out on the streets without a home. It brings a real lump to my throat.
So just think of your animals welfare and get them done. In the end they will be at a lesser risk of certain diseases too
