How can I tell if a male cat is fixed? We've had him a year and a half. He's never sprayed or acknowledged any female cats when they're in heat. He's probably about two years old. I'm thinking maybe he was fixed before someone dropped him off...

Lol...well you just have to check and see. Look below the belly is all I know to tell you. Like a male dog....They will have their "privates" if they are not fixed. You can always ask your vet.

Thank you -- I know it's sort of a stupid question! I'm taking several cats to a spay/neuter clinic and thought I'd feel sort of dumb showing up with a cat that is already fixed!!

Not all vets remove the entire sac when neutering cats. My four neutered males still have their sacs which are a bit smaller than they were before the surgery but if I did'nt already know they were neutered I would not be able to tell by just looking.

My male cat is apparently the same way because I cannot tell by looking. I'm planning on taking him to the clinic and then if they say he's already fixed, then I can hopefully go get another male cat to be fixed instead. (We have a couple more males who also need fixed but there wasn't enough room for all of them this time around.)

Since our female is a stray I have no idea if she is fixed or not. She is declawed which leads me to believe she is also fixed. There are no scars. Is there anyway to tell as the vet had no clue?

the best way to tell if your cat is neutered is to keep them in for a few days and see if they start to 'caterwall' (sorry about the spelling) basically the mating sound. If they go skitty and make this noise then they arent neutered. As my vet put it you 'know' when they aren't!!!!!
This works with both males and females but only in spring/summer time.

She won't stop chatting, I mean I have been away for 4 days but I had someone check in on her. Now that I am home she talks and talks and talks. Everytime I leave a room she is in she talks. Does this mean she is in heat?

It really depends on the noise she is making. If she is just softly mewing and chirping these are not mating calls, if she is making long pronouced yowling and howling noises (can sometimes sound like a baby crying) she is probably in heat.
