Does anybody have experience pro/con with those electric automatic cleaning ltter box? I mean the type that "rakes" the clumped litter into a container.

Does it successfully combat odor? How often do you need to change the container? Any other observations would be appreciated!

Thanks,

I have to tell you, it was one of the best investments I have ever made!! I use Cat liter that makes the oder stay in the clumps and so when you empty the liter box every week the odor is not that bad. I got it mostly because I have 2 cats and I would have to change the liter like every 2 days. Now I change it once a week and it has made things soooo much better!!!

I love it. My daughter can't stand the noise. It wakes her up at night. Me, I just like the smell reduction and the ease of clean up.

I've had one for 2 years and it was nice but I must admit it is a bugger to deep clean weekly but great that you don't have to do it daily. It will not work if the cat gets diarehaa~it will jam up and just keep making nosies.
Recently we built an outdoor caged cat condo for our indoor cat so he could see and feel like he is in the great outdoors to smell the ocean and see the birds and the littermaid didn't fit so we bought a corner unit regularcovered box and I must admit I like it better. #1 it's less hassle to clean and I use much less litter # 2 it's quite.
One thing I must tell you is littermaid backs there product no matter how old the unit is.

I think they are great. I bought one and it was very nice. Instead of scooping you just empty the container. The only thing is if you get too much litter in there, or there is too much poop at once it will jam. When it jams it tries to rake three times. I hated waking up to it trying to clean itself. Other than that they are great. My cats like it too.
