We have a 3 year old male cat who eats his food fine, except for the fact he doesnt chew it hardly at all and we are finding him puking his food all over the house and the food isnt digested at all, in fact it is still whole pieces that he is throwing up. We have tried several different types of food and he still does the same thing. Why would he first of all not chew his food and then why is he puking the food? He doesnt play rough after eating, so we cant blame it on that. We just dont know what else to do. He has been like this ever since he was a kitten. Any help would be great on this. Thanks!!

My cats don't really chew either..its seems like they just crunch once or twice and swallow, though they never seem to puke it back up. Cats teeth are not really designed for chewing...they perform much better at ripping and tearing.

Would it be possible for you to pre-soak his dry food in a bit of warm water before feeding it to him? This would soften it and break it down enough to most likely stop the puking....unless he is eating too fast. Another option would be to try canned food or you could try feeding several small meals of dry daily rather than free feeding (if thats what you are currently doing).

I have a cat with the same problem. Get sensitive stomach cat food this helps with my cat. It also helps to change food brands often for my cat.Some weeks he does it every day and then he goes a week without doing it. Mine does it with soft or hard food. Makes no difference so we know he has asensutive stomach. He was the runt of the litter. Hope this helps.
