I have a 12 yr old Himilayan who has always had a huge appetite. He eats dry food. recently he showed signs of illness so we took him in, he has heart disease. however it can be controlled for years hopefully with medication. He now refuses to eat. we have stopped his meds for the time being, and are force feeding him by tube. It has been 1 week since we took him in. He still refuses even his favorite "snacks" like french fries. I dont know if it was the stress of the visits to the vet, the sickness which is now under control, or the meds that depressed his appetite. We will have a very difficult time if hisrefusal to eat is what kills him, plz help when will he start eating again or how do we get him to eat on his own, he doesn't like the force feeding its very stressful for him and us!! Thanks

Contact your vet and see if they have whats called "Quik Start" this is a medicated substance which helps increase the appetite. Your vet should carry it in a 100 ML tube that is like a syringe that you give to kitty to help him want to eat. It looks like vanilla pudding - and smells good. Most cats don't mind the flavor and I have seen it work wonders!
Hope this helps.
