My cat (charollet) is about...9 months old. She has a very bad habbit of peeing on things. if i leave anything i mean anything on the floor she will get it. so i bought a hamper to keep the dirty cloths in that helped a bit. then i left the toiletpaper. a tiny roll. i have about had it with her. i love her to death and i would never get rid of her but i dont know what to do with her she is starting to go on my bed i rather put clothes on the floor for her to pee on then my bed. so if anyone what to help me let me know what to do!

Sometimes cats can urinate on things because they're trying to tell you something. Has this been a problem ever since you got her, or is this a new behavior? If this is a new behavior - she's trying to tell you she's not happy about something. Have you recently changed anything about your lifestyle that could have effected her "usual atmosphere" or are you at home less often or at different times than usual? If so, she's letting you know she doesn't like it. If this is not the case, you should try closing certain doors to her - not letting her into rooms she usually has access to lets her know that you're not going to allow her to continue the bad behavior.

Above all, you should not scold her, or punish her in anyway unless you catch her "in the act" if you do that it will confuse her as to what she did wrong. If you do catch her in the act, pick her up (do not cuddle her) tell her "NO" and place her in her litter box.
Are you changing her litter box too often or not often enough? If her litter box is full and filthy or if she cannot smell her own scent - she will go in other places.

I have a cat that came back to me at 7-months-old, from a litter my female cat had. He refused to use the litter box, so I reverted back to kitten training. I kept him in one room. Everytime he pooped, I put it in his litter box. Every time he peed, I wiped it with a small cloth and put it in the litter box. After about 3 days he was covering up the stuff in the litter box and by a week, he was using it. I made sure I spent lots of time with him too, so he wasn't lonely. It worked like a charm.

there is also a hormone spray that you can obtain from your vet called feliway. you spray it around the areas that you cat likes to urinate and it might fix the problem. it's a hormone that comforts the cat...usually in result they won't spray or urinate in odd places anymore. you should also check with your vet to make sure she doesn't have a urinary tract infection.

My cat just started urinating everywhere two summers ago. He had crystals in his urine, and a urinary tract infection. We had to put him on special food only obtained at the Vet. Now, two years later, he has taken to urinating on strange objects, after not doing it for years. He will go on the carpet in my closet, on any piece of clothing on the floor, shoe boxes, laundry baskets, and today, on our down comforter which had fallen on the floor last night. I suppose we should take him to the vet, but it seems he is urinating a lot in the litter box as well! Any other tips would be helpful.

My kitten Zoe peed everywhere a week after we brought her home. We took her to the vet and she had huge crystals in her urine. She was put on some medicine and special food for awhile. That cleared her up and now she can eat anything and uses the litter without problems.

You should consider taking the cat to the vet to make sure that there's no physical problem and then maybe go from there.

Wow, I'm glad I found this board! Our female (neutered) has been urinating on the carpet...now, I know we have carpet that needs replacing...it is very stained despite my best efforts...but, this is a bummer as she only seems to do this in the summer (warmer weather/more smell?) Anyway, I took her to the vet, did the tests for urinary tract infection/ she is fine...but now we have to work on this problem...
She isn't avoiding her litter box, will use it...
Any advice? I can keep her downstairs where her box is...I bought some "natures miracle" to work on the smells and am having the carpet cleaned (with supposed "pet treatment") although I'm sure it's futile...I hope to over come this, or, at least, manage it...
