Hello Everybody,
It's been about three week since we brought home Hailie Jade. Courage is still fighting with her. Hailie just wants to be friends but it's hard to be friends with someone who wants nothing to do with you. Any ideas? We are taking them both to the vet tomorrow and we're going to ask if she has any ideas. Also, Hailie still isn't using the litter box. They have different boxes[Courage is always outside so she doesn't really use hers] I don't want to put Hailie in one room but if that's what I have to do I will. We would be very grateful for any ideas!

I hate to say this but some cats will just NEVER like each other.
I am lucky in the fact that my three do get on, though they still have a daily spat of 'who's boss'.
You can't force your animals to be friends in the same way you can't force humans to be friends.
In your case though it doesn't look like they will even learn to tolerate each other.
It may be time to look at your options of a new home for one of your kitties since they are so distressed they won't even go to the toilet.
I know it is an upsetting thought but you have to do what is best for your animals and it isn't fair to put them through such stress.
See what your vet can do for you but be prepared for the worst.

I agree in some respect that there are cases of cats that just won't ever get along. I'm going throught the same thing with the baby of my bunch of a total of 7 indoor cats. They will take some time to get used to each other and with their only being two - the eldest is going through the "I'm top of the totem pole around here" phase and wants the little one to understnad that. The eldest is also probably a little ticked right now because:
1. You have changed its environment without it's consent. LOL
2. You brought another cat into the family that may lessen its priority to attention.
3. It now has to share the family and space with the new arrival.

The little one wants to make friends and have a new playmate so it will take time for the other to adjust to kitty's presence and eventually learn to tolerate him/her. It will be a rocky road full of hissing, growling, and occasional spats between them, but once the matriarch (first cat) realizes that the new kitty isn't going anywhere... he/she will become accustomed to the new edition and some day be lost without each other. Trust me - with 7 of them and all different ages...I know. Just give them time.

Okay, thanks! We took them to the vet today and she said the same thing. Courage is acting more used to the idea of two cats. Hailie is still trying to make friends. today they were actually sitting together. But it didn't last long....Courage was cleaning herself and kept moving her tail...Hailie pounced on it and scared Courage. Courage is still on the T.V. *S* I think they will start getting along. Or at least I hope they will.
Also, Hailie is going to be kept in my room till she gets the idea of using the litter box.
Thanks everybody!
