I put newspaper around the litter box, and I keep it clean, but everyday I find at least 2 puddles on the newspaper. They seem to like going on paper better than litter.

One kitten has never gone out of the litter box, but only because the few times he tried, I corrected him immediately. But the other 3 tend to do it when I'm out of the room. The one I'm having the most trouble with will do it just in the one minute I'm gone throwing something away. They all trust me, I guess I just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I was thinking of taking away the newspaper since they enjoy going on that so much, but I'm worried that then they'll go on the carpet. Help!

Also, their poop is a sort of reddish color. They are on nutritious kitten food and water, but it still won't stop!

Love*all*kitties, do you only have one litter tray for all 4 kittens? Try getting at least 2 more trays. Yes thats a lot of litter and takes up space, but cats are very fussy and clean animals. They will often refuse to use a tray that has been soiled by another cat, so one cat one tray is a good rule. Also, I wouldn't be surprized if at least one of the kittens are peeing in a secret place somewhere else in the house in desperation to find its 'own' area. So get some more trays. as they grow you will need more trays anyway.

As far as the redish poo goes, if all of them have it then its probally their diet. Keep it in mind next time you speak to your vet.

Isis, how big is the litter tray? Try a bigger one with tall sides. I image your kitten is older that 3 months and should have no problem jumping over the sides.

And about that one part.......well, I sure hope no ones going somewhere else to do it! They seem fine using the same litterbox though, because they are litter mates who have shared everything with each other.

It sounds like there is red colouring in the food. Some cats really like the colour red with food, so it will be to make it more appealling. I imagine its no problem but you could always change their food if it worrys you.

Maybe just use a bigger tray for now then with more litter, or experiment with different litter. Some cats like different textures and softness in litters. Maybe you have one or two kittens that are fussy.
