Maybe she's just paranoid!

but seriously. It sounds like she is just looking for comfort at night. My bed is so full of cats at night there isn't much room for me and my partner and we have to sleep with the lights on as my kitten is scared of the dark!

She could feel threatened by you staring at her, try blinking, as this is a sign of submission to cats. Then she should stop feeling that you are aggressive towards her.

At 9 weeks she is still very young and is still being socialized (cats do not reach social maturity until around 24 months) if you can get her to associate being stroked with good things, such as being fed, she should quickly come around.

Also you could be mixing up her crying as a scared thing with her 'crying' to call for her mummy. If you move her off your pillow she may feel 'alienated' from you. If you can't stand her being that close to you at night take a well worn jumper or cover a pillow in one you have had on your bed for a week and put it on the bed side table for her to sleep on. She should feel reassured by this as with any luck she is starting to see you as her mum.

Good Luck
Katie

It certainly not normal behaviour but she may just be one of these cats that hates to be picked up.

If she has been beaten I would expect her to have some injuries as at 14 weeks she is still pretty tiny.

At what age did you get her?
